Spyfall — the party game about finding the spy

Spyfall is a free online party game for a group of friends. Everyone but one player knows the secret location. The spy does not, and has to work it out from the answers, while the rest try to expose the outsider before the round runs out. It plays with 3 to 15 people, with no sign-up and no install: the game opens straight in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer.

How to play

Pick a mode: one shared device, when everybody is around the same table and the phone goes around, or online — the host gets a room code and friends join with it from their own devices. Everyone checks their card: the table gets the location, the spy gets a blank one. Then players take turns asking each other about what happens at the location while the app keeps the clock.

Rules

• Everyone gets the same location — only the spy is left without it.
• Questions go in turns: an answer that is too precise exposes a local, one that is too vague exposes the spy.
• The table looks for the player who does not know the place, the spy plays along.
• At the end of the round the group says whether the spy uncovered the location: if so, the spies score, if not, the table does.
• Rounds run one after another and the scores add up in a shared table.

Who it suits

The game is made for a party, an evening with friends, a family gathering, a trip or an office break. The rules take a minute to explain, a round takes five minutes or more, and the questions and suspicions keep the whole group busy — so it works both as a card-free board game and as an online game at a distance.
